The number of female founders is increasing, with more women starting their own businesses than ever before—It is power and good news for many lives!

I started my business after spending five years as an in-house designer, but I had no clue about business, branding, finding and owning my voice, creating products, and more—it simply wasn't on my radar yet. However, I strongly desired to create and unlock the freedom to bring my ideas and visions to life. As a creative, it took me time to embrace the title of "female founder." I used to associate it with famous and successful female entrepreneurs and thought only they could be called that way.

✦ Hopefully, it’s simple: you define who you are and who you want to become. The moment you start your business, you’re on the path to becoming a female founder. Success doesn’t define a female founder—every female founder defines her own success. Today, I am comfortable with it because I am on this exciting journey!

How was this digital product born?

My first illustration celebrated Female Founders on Giphy.

I was selected to join the Buildspace S5 cohort. For those unfamiliar, Buildspace is a community of individuals passionate about creating innovative and exciting projects.
Initially, I focused on an illustration-based project, as I was already gaining momentum on the topic of female founders. However, as I researched and reflected on my journey, as well as those of female founders in my circle, I decided to create a set of tools—worksheets, a workbook, and more—to support and celebrate fellow female founders who, like myself, are building and leading in their respective fields.

• I began by asking some female founders in my circle to answer a quiz I created, which captured some important steps in the journey of a female founder. The responses confirmed my belief that while our journeys are unique, we experience similar patterns of breakthroughs and rollercoasters on the way.
• I decided to align with the theme of the title, "Female Founder's Journey," and draw an analogy with the buyer's journey. By capturing and bringing awareness to the common key stages in the Female Founder's Journey, many more women would be better equipped and prepared for their entrepreneurial journey.

A simple idea grew into a desire to create tools that support fellow female founders, guiding them one key step at a time—all through using illustration and branding as a language.
